Seen below are photos from the Leeming Spartan Cricket Club’s April 2006 Windup, which was held at our clubhouse on John Connell Reserve.

For whatever reason, legend dictates that the Club’s Windup should never be held at the same venue more than twice in a row, but certainly, our second to none clubhouse really is a sensational location for such an event, and despite the fact that we are there all summer long, it was a fantastic windup with an enormous attendance.

The season itself (2005/06) proved to be a very competitive one by all of our sides, with many reaching finals, however in the end, we didn’t have a single premiership to show for it!

Recruiting was a highlight this season, leading with the recruitment of former Western Warrior Mark Atkinson. Mark not only excelled as a player (winning the Association Cricketer of the Year and the Read/Waterer Club Champion Medal), but also proved to be a great club member.

Other recruits also performed very well, namely Chris Geers who scored 613 runs including 2 centuries, Andy Gibbs who took 43 wickets, and Jackson Wheeler who showed more than enough to be considered a player of the future.

Peter Read was also deservedly inducted into the Spartan Hall Of Fame.
