Below are some snapshots from our 2008/09 season, which saw an invincible First Grade take home the Premiership in what was a remarkable ninetieth year for the Leeming Spartan Cricket Club.

In the end, four sides – our First, Third, Sixth and One Day ‘C’ grades – made the finals, with the First and Sixth Grades winning the Grand Final to become Premiers.

Season highlights included Gary Boyes becoming the seventh Spartan to play three-hundred games and Mick Bennett taking the record for the most 5 wickets in an innings for the Club.

Off the field, we celebrated our ninetieth year in grand style with a formal Gala Dinner at the Sheraton Hotel. More than one hundred and eighty current and former players, supporters, and family members attended a fantastic night that will live long in the memory of the Leeming Spartan Cricket Club.

In total, the season saw three premierships (including one in the Sixth and First Grade), plus a mountain of long standing records broken, including Brad Mant setting a new highest score by a Spartan with 194.

Our First Grade’s Premiership victory capped off what was a sensational season, and despite starting the season the with a hiccup by losing to a depleted East Fremantle side, they rebounded exceptionally strongly, and didn’t lose another game for the rest of the season, becoming the icing on the cake in season 2008/09!

Photos of this hugely enjoyable season are viewable below, and you can click here to view photos from our 90th Anniversary dinner.
