In addition to a new Secretary and four new faces on the Committee, yesterday’s Annual General Meeting saw the renaming of two of our executive positions.

It was decided that the positions of Senior and Junior Vice President would be retired effective immediately, with two positions of simply ‘Vice President’ taking their place.

Both positions carry equal weighting as second-in-command, with the move made to standardise the roles and remove any possible confusion with the Leeming Spartan Junior Cricket Club, which is an entirely separate entity.

It is the second reshuffling at the Club in as many months, with the longstanding Knox-Peden Award for the Best Club Junior having been successfully renamed to the Knox-Peden Young Spartan Award, a move also made to remove any perceived clash with the Junior Club.

As for the positions of Vice President, the dropping of the “Senior” and “Junior” title has had no effect on the men fulfilling the roles, with Glenn Hack and Paul Kalleske both unanimously voted back in as our deputies.

The last time the position of second in command was named as such was way back in 1975 when Brian Waterer filled the role.

Congratulations to our two newest Vice Presidents, and we wish them all the best in the upcoming season!
