Over the course of the next few weeks, we’ll be bringing you a collection of stories based on our very extensive Leeming Spartan history!
With the aid of two Spartan legends in Graeme Ashley and Brian Waterer, we’ll be working to organise a series of posts based on the history of the Club – including any amazing, funny, rare, and incredible bits of information that we’ve collected over the last ninety nine years!
It’s called “From The Spartan Archives” and will detail a great collection of history and info based on the Leeming Spartan Cricket Club.
We aim to bring a new entry at least once a week during the off season, because with 99 years of history, it seems extremely unlikely we’ll be short on content!
We’ll also be dedicating some entries to our Spartan legends, which will also be added to the website permanently under the ‘honours’ category!
Further to this, we’ve been busy adding even more entries to the “Honours” and “Statistics” pages, including a list of Premierships and Office Bearers, so be sure to check those out!
Furthermore, the 2016/17 season’s history entry will be added in the coming weeks, with a special thanks to H who as always will be compiling the piece.
Finally, it is worth noting that our “Become A Spartan” page is now back, meaning any prospective players are able to complete the form online and let us know of your interest ahead of the new season. It is also a great way for existing members to update their contact details!
From The Spartan Archives begins today – with our first entry coming by surprise during our Annual General Meeting last Sunday – as Brian brought along the Club’s first ever Premiership Trophy.
The trophy comes from the 1922/23 season, and is therefore just five years younger than the Club itself!

A special thank you to Brian and Graeme, collecting the information and writing the stories for our “From The Spartan Archives” is certainly no easy task, and will help form another fantastic part of the Leeming Spartan Cricket Club’s website!
