Last Saturday night, saw our Season Wind-up held at Spartan HQ – John Connell Reserve to wrap up the season that was for 2022/23.
Approximately 80 guests enjoyed a fantastic meal and drinks along with our traditional grade awards and prestigious annual club awards handed out.
While there was no new Life Members award handed out for this season, we finally had the opportunity to formally induct our long serving Club Treasurer Geoff Burgess as a Spartan Life Member as he was away with family earlier in the season when our Wind-Up for 2021/22 was held. A true honour for Geoff who has served our club well both on-field and off-field for many seasons now. Congrats Burgo!
Our other major club awards announced on the night, went to Andrew “Chubba” D’Angelo as he was announced as our Graeme Ashley Club Person of the Year for all his work both on the field as our One Day G’s Captain and off the field for his committee and bar work at functions etc. Love your work Chubba! And the Jack Knox Peden Young Spartan of the Year Award went to Sam Pitkethley for his hard work on and off the field culminating with his 7-for against Piara Waters in the last game of the season in 1st Grade. Well Done Sammy!
Our social committee Ladies – Cherie McElhinney & Jodie Rennie were also recognised for their hard work organising and running our social events this season by President Peter Coombs in receiving each, his President’s Appreciation Award. Well done Ladies!
