This coming Saturday 12th November will see a new round of Two-Day games commence and our latest addition to the “300 club”.

Yes, this week and next in our 4th XI (6th Grade), will see Shannon Davies play his 300th match for Leeming Spartan and become just the 19th Spartan to do so in the club’s 104-year history.

Shannon joined Spartans in 1999 and quickly became a reliable bowler in the lower 2-day grades. With the ball, he has taken 483 wickets over the journey, 11 x five wicket hauls and best bowling figures of 7/51 in an innings. However, it is his batting which he has always wanted to be known for. With a highest score of 79 and 5 x 50 plus scores, in recent seasons he has applied himself enough to be up to opening the batting for his team.

Davies has also experienced premiership success 7 times across both two- and one-day competition formats, with one 3rd Grade One-Day Premiership as the winning Captain in 2008/09.

Off the field, Shannon has also contributed to the club with two stints on the club committee as Secretary as well as committing as a club sponsor via his firm – Stork Davies Legal Advisors for several seasons. Davies was then made a Spartan Life Member in 2017, as recognition of his contribution to our great club both on and off the field.

So, a huge congratulations to Shannon on this massive career milestone from everyone at Spartans!
