This Saturday, September 16th, the Leeming Spartan Cricket Club is taking on the Ferndale-Lynwood Cricket Club at the home of cricket – John Connell Reserve – in two massive scratch matches ahead of season 2017/18!

Ferndale-Lynwood Cricket Club compete in the Perth Cricket Association (PCA) and currently have 4 sides competing in 2 day and 1 day cricket, having regularly challenged for the premiership in the PCA’s 2nd Grade since their establishment in 1977.

This Saturday, they take on the Spartans in the first ever matchup between the two clubs, and we’re making a day of it!

We have two great games against two Ferndale representative sides, with Game One, a Twenty20 match commencing at 10:00am, and will be followed by a Leeming Spartan First Grade Squad v Ferndale-Lynwood 40-over game from 1:00pm.

All those interested are welcome to nominate for the first game, and are encouraged to do so by contacting our President/Chairman of Selectors Peter Coombs on 0419 959 460 as soon as possible!

Of course, everyone is most certainly welcome to attend the event – we’ll have the bar open, the footy on, and the kitchen running all day!

Get down for what promises to be a great day at the Spartan HQ!

In what will most likely be our final pre-season event at our clubhouse (we have a Bunnings BBQ the following weekend), we’re inviting all Spartans to stop by and have a game or a gander ahead of a jam packed season 2017/18 – our 99th and 100th years overall!

As is the case with our hugely popular WinterT20 games, the bar will be open, the kitchen will be running hot and the footy finals will be on the telly!

It’s also a great opportunity to check out our expanded Premiership Photo wall, which includes some great new additions and some very rare snapshots from the sixties and the roaring twenties! Thanks to Sooty, and Coombsy for framing and hanging them up and to young Coombsy for designing them!

Great Match-Day Preparation!

On the field is where this event differs entirely from our WinterT20. This is a full-on high quality match against quality opposition.

It’s a great way to get some centre and match practice in ahead of the season, and with two games against the Ferndale-Lynwood boys, everyone will have the opportunity to participate if they wish!

Game one at 10:00am is open to all, and will feature a selected squad of about sixteen-twenty, all of whom will be partaking in some fashion, and will be followed by an exciting First Grade Fixture against Ferndale-Lynwood’s most senior side!

Bar Open, BBQ Running Hot, and MC-Hack is Back!

So, do not miss out! It is going to be a great day at the SpartanHQ, so be sure to get down and enjoy – we look forward to seeing you Saturday 16th September!
