It is with the heaviest of hearts that we share the passing of our beloved Club Legend, Life Member, and friend, Brian Waterer.
Brian’s contribution to the Leeming Spartan Cricket Club – and to the game itself – is immeasurable. A Spartan through and through, his journey spanned nearly 40 playing seasons, 446 games, over 7,600 runs, 94 wickets, and countless unforgettable moments on and off the field. He captained teams to multiple premierships, carried the bat in tough innings, and built record partnerships that will live long in our history.
But Brian’s impact reached far beyond the boundary rope. He served selflessly as President for 26 seasons, Treasurer, Secretary, Coach, and Committee Member. His leadership extended across Fremantle & Districts and South Metropolitan cricket, as well as the Leeming Sports Association, where he continued to give his time right until the end.
More than the statistics, Brian was the heartbeat of our club – a mentor, a guiding hand, and a friend to generations of Spartans. His dedication, humour, and passion shaped the Leeming Spartan Cricket Club into the family it is today.
We mourn the loss of a true giant of our community but celebrate the extraordinary legacy he leaves behind.
Rest in peace, Brian. You will forever be part of the Spartan family.
