Hi all, as the season fast approaches, i would like to advise all of the “behind the scenes” workings that has been going on for the club for the coming season.
Firstly, a very big thank you to all who came and assisted in the dismantling and disposal of the old nets, as it was being taken down, I was very much mindful that all Spartans since 1986 trained at these nets, having grown from the early years from two nets to four, they were a very big part of our history with many memories.
Our oval extension “Clearing Permit” for our second oval has been approved with any appeals to be expressed, this appeals date has now expired, I await for the next steps from DWER regarding the clearing.
From a club prospect, I am really chuffed in the appointment of Adam Morgan as the Vice President. PK, Daniel and Burgo as Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer continue on, I cannot outline how important these guys are to the club and the work they do behind the scenes, my thoughts are the same with Adam Seaward and Graeme Ashley, each play a very important role in holding this club together and get you all out on the park on the first week in October.
Managing the club on a First Grade Level, understanding and appreciating that this club is now in its 108th year, with an extraordinary history and that we are the standards setter over all those years, I am very pleased to announce through the tireless and committed efforts of John Ipsen during the off season the appointment of Matthew Milton as our Development Coach.
We all know Milts, he is a serious, experienced high grade cricketer, not only at Spartans but at Fremantle WACA, Western Australia and England County. Milts has received multiple club awards only just recently being entered into our club Hall of Fame, we are extremely fortunate to have him committed to the club moving forward with our young players. I would ask all of you, no matter what your age, to reach out to him and explore his wealth of knowledge and experience,
I am also extremely excited to welcome two new First Grade players as Spartans, Tom Stephenson and Arshad “Jiffy” Jiffry, big welcome.
More news to come, please look at the preseason dates, both indoor and at John Connell, Elvo is running those shows as normal, all is welcome.
