The SMCA Years (1996-2000)

An incredible chapter in Leeming Spartan Cricket Club history occurred in early 1996, when after an incredible sixty-seven years, the Club departed the Fremantle & Districts Mercantile Cricket Association, and joined the South Suburban Cricket Association, with the aim of a future merger between the two governing bodies.

Read Writes The Script (2000-2002)

The year of 2000 marked the dawn of a new age for the Leeming Spartan Cricket Club, beginning right at the top as we had our first new President, Peter Read, in more than twenty years, following the record set by Brian Waterer. Learn about this chapter in Spartan history here!

Bull Creek Spartans 1985

The second instalment in our new “From The Spartan Archives” series recounts part of what was a comparatively brief chapter in our extensive history, our time at Trevor Gribble Reserve as the Bull Creek Spartans.

Specifically, this edition looks at the year of 1985, what proved to be our final one on Parry Avenue, before our move to John Connell Reserve.

David Blight

Dave is a longtime servant of the Leeming Spartan Cricket Club, completing his first season in 1975. Since then, he has continued to rise to the occasion, having captained more often than not, and was pivotal off the field in the Club’s famous 1992 First Grade Grand Final victory.
