With the final home and away matches now completed for 2016/17, our attention well and truly turns to our First Grade Semi Final this weekend.

2016/17 has seen some amazing achievements and personal milestones reached, and the month of March is certainly no exception.

Read on below to find out about all the amazing milestones recorded in the past fortnight!

Milestones recently recorded for the Leeming Spartan Cricket Club include;

  • Graeme Tysoe – 100 Games

Graeme played his 100th game for the Leeming Spartan Cricket Club over the weekend in our 7th Grade, when he and the team took on Cockburn at Trevor Gribble.

Whilst it was not the result we wanted, it hasn’t taken anything away from Tyse’s efforts over the past eight years.

Currently serving on the Committee, Tysoe has been pivotal in completing the line marking at all four grounds each fortnight.

He currently captains our 7th Grade, and in an up-and-down season, the side finished a very respectable sixth position (of eight) in what was a very strong competition, the first 65-over league in the association.

  • Jason Cunningham – 6000 Runs

Cunners ticked off a whopping six thousand runs for the Leeming Spartan Cricket Club with thanks to yet another fine effort with the bat in One Day ‘B’ last Saturday.

In top scoring with 84 in the side’s win over Bicton Attadale, Jason has now scored a massive 637 runs for the season from just ten matches.

Incredibly, his lowest score for the season is 26, and his last three innings read 84, 89, and 59!

His average of 70.78 easily puts him at the top of the list for Spartans this year, and puts him second on the list of run scorers this season, behind only Manty’s 889 (from 7 extra innings).

Perhaps even more remarkable is that he now sits tenth on the list of all time run scorers for the Leeming Spartan Cricket Club!

  • Glenn Parise – 100 Wickets

Glenbo took his one hundredth wicket for the Leeming Spartan Cricket Club last fortnight, which means he joins a list of just over one hundred other Spartans to claim a wickets tally in triple figures.

Not one to rest on his laurels, he followed up wicket one hundred by claiming a five-for in Saturday’s One Day ‘B’ clash, snaring 5/15 from 5.2 overs!

Congratulations to all of our milestone men, not just in March, but over the course of the entire season!

We’ve enjoyed some extremely rare occurrences – seemingly all at once – and we look forward to seeing what milestones 2017/18 brings!
