Christie-Lee and I wanted something positive to come out of Ethan’s misfortune. Following discussions with the Telethon Institute for Child Health Research, Dr Nick Gottardo (a pediatric neuro-oncologist) and Dr Sharon Lee (the pediatric neurosurgeon who operated on Ethan), we have established an annual scholarship to fund brain cancer research at the Institute under the supervision of Dr Gottardo and Dr Lee. We hope to raise, initially, $150,000.

Although the scholarship will not benefit Ethan, Christie-Lee and I hope that the research it funds will produce benefits for other children in the future.

A fundraising page has been established on the web to take in online donations towards the scholarship, which are fully tax deductible. The page went “live” last night.

If any Spartans or their family or friends would like to donate towards the scholarship, it would be greatly appreciated.
