Congratulations to star Spartan Ryan Buckley on winning the 2015/16 Read-Waterer Medal Count!

Buckley polled an incredible 41 votes to take top place ahead of senior First Grade member Mark Elvidge’s 34 votes for second place, and last year’s winner Josh Foster’s 33 votes.

Bucks joins the extensive list of First Grade players to take home one of the Leeming Spartan Cricket Club’s highest individual honours, with recent winners including Andrew Gibbs, Wayne Fontana (twice) and Mark Atkinson.

It has been an incredible year for the Englishman, where he took 31 wickets and scored 185 runs, with a number of match winning all round performances.

Bucks lead the medal count from round three and had all but won it by round 12, with 6 votes for his incredible hat-trick and six-for still to come!

Although Buckley had been the favourite from the outset, the evergreen Mark Elvidge also polled well throughout the night, his season one of the many highlights for the top two day side.

Elvo was pivotal for First Grade throughout the year, amassing 275 runs and 17 crucial wickets, including a defiant 66 in the final game of the year.

Buck’s stats for the 2015/16 season.

Josh Foster was our leading one-day player for the year, his all round performances earning him a total of 33 votes, the same number he had won with in 2014/15.

Overall however, it was Buckley’s night, an incredible season from the 21 year old deservedly has him entrenched in the Spartan history books for many years to come!
